Hilton Head Birds

We’ve seen a lot, and certainly heard a lot of birds since we arrived in Hilton Head. We are not sure what most of them are, but have enjoyed seeing them.
This guy was perched on a security camera on the way to the beach. Good to know that he’s keeping an eye on things.

The Carolina Parakeet statue was at Coastal Discovery Museum, located on Hilton Head Island.

The blue heron was on the 14th hole, at Robbers Row -- one of the courses at Port Royal Plantation.

And here is another resident of the golf course.

I snapped this this photo of bird coming in for a landing just off Folly Field Beach.

I went to the Hilton Head Welcome Center, looking for the Coastal Discovery Museum, but it had been moved a few months ago. Instead of a museum guard, this was the dude who greeted me in the parking lot.

This long legged beauty was on the beach, one sunny morning.

Near the 16th on Robbers Row at Port Royal Plantation I ran into these herons, who were standing on a rope.

Early one morning I caught this guy hiding in a tree in front of Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Club.

The first thing I thought of when I saw these seagulls was Red Skelton, and his Gertrude and Heathcliff routine.

I guess this must be Junior.

There are always lots of dogs on Folly Field Beach. These seagulls were standing around quietly until a pooch saw them and headed their way. And off they went!

The noisiest and most common bird we have seen is the crow. These boys are hanging out down at the corner of Starfish and Sand Dollar Road.

Sitting on a speed sign on the way to the beach was this songbird.

Back at the Golf Course this duck has decided it is time to move on.

Not sure what these waddlers were but they certainly like hanging out together.

In a thicket just off the tee box this little blue headed bird was warbling as I tried to hit it straight. Maybe he was laughing, not warbling.

This one of the first large birds we saw on Starfish Road, which is near our rental condo.

Then I got too close and off he went.

So, if you are a birdwatcher, or if you enjoy seeing and hearing a variety of beautiful birds, you’ll find plenty to see on Hilton Head Island.
